On the 18th, the journalist learned from China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd. that in the first 10 months of this year, the sea-rail intermodal transportation of major ports in the Yangtze River Delta completed a total of 1.96 million TEUs, an increase of 239000 TEUs year-on-year, or 13.9%.

Sea-rail intermodal transportation is favored by export-oriented enterprises due to its strong transportation capacity, favorable transportation prices and precise delivery time. Since this year, the freight volume of sea-rail intermodal transportation in the Yangtze River Delta has increased significantly. Among them, the “combination of land and sea” transportation mode of “China Railway Trains” has greatly improved transportation efficiency and reduced logistics costs.

Shen Hai, the marketing manager of Shanghai International Port Group's sea-rail intermodal transportation company, introduces that sea-rail intermodal transportation has better solved the problem of new channels for customers to go to sea. Loading new energy vehicles into containers, transporting them by railway to Shanghai Port, and then “crossing the sea” through ro/ro ships or container ships can reduce costs by about 15%.

In order to meet the strong market demands, China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd. and relevant port departments in the Yangtze River Delta actively connect with enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta region, customize efficient and convenient sea-rail intermodal logistics solutions, ensure the safety and fast shipment of goods, and guarantee the smooth flow of the industrial chain and supply chain.

The freight traffic reflects strong development momentum. In the first 10 months of this year, the cargo volume of CRE trains in the Yangtze River Delta region also showed rapid growth. Among them, CR Express trains in Lianyungang were operated a total of 511 trips (including return trips), an increase of 8.3% year-on-year; 50000 TEUs were shipped, an increase of 3637 TEUs year-on-year. Driven by market demands, CR Express in Lianyungang has laid out four railway exit ports, namely Alashankou, Khorgos, Erenhot and Manzhouli, to achieve full coverage of major stations in Central Europe and Central Asia, and has opened six routes to five Central Asian countries, as well as China-Kyrgyzstan-Ukraine, China-Mongolia, China-Russia, China-Europe and China-Turkey.

In addition to sea-rail intermodal transportation and China-Europe freight trains, shipping and logistics enterprises such as COSCO Shipping are also accelerating the formation of a logistics system that integrates river-sea express transportation, river-sea intermodal transportation and “road-rail-river”, focusing on reducing the total cost of social logistics and consolidating the foundation of port-aviation-trade integration.
