The 90th anniversary of the opening of Lianyungang Port was ushered in, and the opportunity of the 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative was superimposed. Lianyungang Port aimed at volume orientation and made steady progress towards the goal of “10 million TEUs, Great Oriental Port”. On the 6th, good news came from Port Holding Group: In the first half of this year, the port completed a total cargo throughput of 149 million tons, an increase of 11.7% year-on-year; among them, containers reached 2.8436 million TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 15.4%, and a remarkable performance of “double rise” and “double over half” were successfully achieved.

Firmly grasping the primary task of high-quality development, Lianyungang Port highlights the characteristic functional positioning of “two-way opening, sea and land hub”, with an awareness of “bearing responsibility in mind, fulfilling responsibility in the action”, a sense of urgency of “time waits for no man, seizing the day and night”, and a sense of mission of “fulfilling duty, being always at work”, playing the horn of “overcoming difficulties”, looking for markets, making achievements, ensuring on-site performance and improving efficiency. In January, we successfully won the first export of “hydraulic equipment” from Zhengzhou Coal Mining Machinery Group Co., Ltd; in February, a Russian bulk imported corn ship for the first time docked at Lianyungang Port; in March, the export volume of mechanical vehicles increased by 134% year-on-year, and the transit channels for goods and vehicles from Thailand— China (Lianyungang)—Kazakhstan and Japan—China (Lianyungang)—Kazakhstan were successively opened; in April, Australian trade coal and export coal from Xuzhou Coal Mining Group returned to the embrace of the port; in May, bauxite operations achieved three consecutive record breaking; in June, for the first time receiving and unloading new varieties of palm kernel meal…

The main source of goods has achieved a stable increase in volume, and new types of goods have been continuously innovated and developed. The port has driven development at a high speed with high efficiency, focusing on the construction of “big logistics and channels”, improving the entire logistics service capacity, and continuously strengthening the loading and unloading service capacity. Since this year, all units of the port have always practiced the concept of “ensuring the market with the site”, constantly improving the port production efficiency, achieving a record of 3119 port daily loading vehicles, lifting the first set of 123m wind turbine blades in the deep sea. Six ro-ro ships docked in a single day at the same time, breaking the record of 22.08m maximum berthing draft.

The “Belt and Road” drives the “Port Road”. Since this year, the port has seized the opportunity of the 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” initiative, focused on the construction of the new Eurasian land-sea intermodal transport corridor, put forth effort on creating the intersection and strong fulcrum of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and created a new highland of land-sea two-way opening in the new era. From January to June, Lianyungang Trans-Eurasia Logistics has completed a total of 383 trains, with a traffic volume of 15700 vehicles, adding Chrysotile, gold concentrate, carbon black and other return goods. The first physical project of the “Belt and Road” - China Kazakhstan (Lianyungang) Logistics Cooperation Base has set a new record of 286 vehicles loaded and unloaded day and night, and the efficiency of customs clearance has been steadily improved. The sea-river intermodal transportation volume reached 9.179 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%, including 21166 TEUs of containers, a year-on-year increase of 77.9%.

In the first half of this year, the port placed innovation driven development at a strategic high position, highly valued the cultivation of innovative elements and the creation of technology brands, and created a higher level of innovative port. At present, the Lianyungang International Automobile Green Intelligent Logistics Center has sprung up, the 400000 ton dock renovation and expansion project has been efficiently promoted, and the “Yungang No. 2 Electric Tugboat” which currently has the largest loading capacity in China, has been successfully launched into the water. Various key engineering projects are accelerating, rushing to progress and ensuring quality. An intelligent, deep-water, professional and green great oriental port stands tall on the shore of the Yellow Sea.
